Process

Newness! Of all kinds!

First, a new art space. I adore it. It gets really fabulous light in the morning and is exceptionally peaceful.



A little piece that I've been working on. Unfinished, but wanted to share the process. 8x8.



Yet another unfinished piece (hmm...a theme is emerging here...)This photo is crappy, but you get the idea. The water consists entirely of photographs of water from National Geographic magazine. I'll post more photos of this one as it progresses.



A finished piece. One of the most personally meaningful pieces I've made in a while. It may inspire a series.



A piece I'm in the middle of for a summer class. Deeply personal and extremely cathartic. Will likely post more photos of the finished product, but for now:

So that's mostly it for now. Summer is coming and I am EXCITED for farmer's markets, ice cream, sunshine, and being outside!

Change, Change, Change

I found this on my cousin's blog and it seemed to fit today:

St. Theresa's Prayer:

Ends and Beginnings

I finished an art journal that I've been working in since June 2008. I'll go back to it and add things occasionally, but all of the pages are filled and it definitely feels full and finished. I made a primitive fabric cover for it from some salvaged fabric my grandfather gave me. Hollaback Papa! And then I did something I've never done before: I tore all of the little bits of poems and pieces of paper that served as my inspiration wall down and either taped or glued them into what turned into a title page for my journal. I used some on the cover also. So basic. No planning. Felt great. I am ready to start acquiring for a new inspiration wall. A beautiful thing.

Roots

Another page that I'm not very fond of. I made this page back in October when my mother sold the house I grew up in. I've recently finished the art journal that this particular page lives in (photos to come) and happened upon it several days ago. It has new meaning for me these days.

Had I taken my time at Kinko's it would've read, 'where will The roots grow?'
